Western BBQ 2019
The Family Matters Club hosted its 3rd annual Western BBQ and Carnival was held Sunday September 29th at Holiday Harbor. The event was loaded with Western fun for kids including a mechanical bull, pony rides, a petting zoo, and a dozen western themed carnival games with prizes, crafts tables, face painting, and contests. There was a watermelon eating contest held for three different age groups. The 0-6 winner was Mason, 7-12 as Delina and 1 and up was Daniel. Each winner received a watermelon slice pillow and a trophy. The Sack Race Winners were Chase, Robert, Bentlee, Emma and Dominic who were awarded with cowboy dolls. The Little Miss Contest was won by Brooklyn and the runner up was Paris. Brooklyn was awarded with a sash and a pony purse. The Little Cowboy was won by Locklin and runner up was Preston. Locklin was awarded with a sash and stuffed pony. The Sheriff had several “arrest” and the best one was little girl who really really wanted to have him mom arrested. She only had $3 so the sheriff chipped in the extra $2 to make it happen. There were a dozen vendors to shop from and a best decorated vendor booth contest was held with the winner being Janet Kobs of Scentsy. Families enjoyed the afternoon and chowed down on the BBQ choices of chicken, brisket, pork or hot dogs, brought to you by J&K Catering. The BBQ was a complete sell out and a big hit. The main contest of the day was a drawing for a family 4 pack of tickets to Disneyland and a set of limited edition collector dolls. It was won my James McKee of McKee Plumbing.
